SHI's Pledge to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)

SHI builds our strong, unified community together by sharing and celebrating the unique experiences of us all. When we listen, share, educate and empower, we ensure all voices have a seat at our table recognizing first and foremost what we have in common to successfully achieve.

- Ellen Mass, Sr. Director of Employee Engagement and Culture

Our success can only be achieved through the diverse voices comprising SHI's core values. Where everyone - regardless of background or status - has a seat at the table in determining how to best serve our communities and customer's inherent needs.

DEI Training for Employees

DEI Training for Employees

SHI provides online training modules for employees focused on increasing awareness, in conjunction with enabling productive and honest conversations surrounding sensitive topics including race, gender, implicit bias and more. Our trainings provide specific awareness towards employees with different identities and backgrounds - teaching how others can experience the workplace in vastly different ways.

Diverse Talent Acquisition & Retention

Diverse Talent Acquisition & Retention

We are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect — where equal employment opportunities are available to all workers within and outside of SHI. Our most important assets are our diverse employees reflective of SHI's broader community. We acknowledge and support the collective sum of individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, innovation, self-expression, unique capabilities, and talent our employees bring.

Fostering Inclusive Communication

Fostering Inclusive Communication

Providing a direct channel of communication through our employees from the top-down, as well as providing them a platform for sharing their own workplace experiences, are integral in nurturing an environment conducive towards equity and mutual respect across SHI's landscape. Examples include Black History, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage, Pride, and Hispanic Heritage month through webinars, panels, events, and interviews from SHI employees - focusing on providing a voice where one may have not existed previously.
